SWU Affiliated Elementary Schooland Kindergarten Delegation Visiting in Windsor
2017年10月17至18日,应温莎大学许世静教授和多伦多大学康纳利教授邀请,由加拿大社会科学与人文科学研究基金会（SSHRC）资助的中加教师教育和学校教育互惠学习合作项目和温莎公立教育局支持,西南大学附属小学及实验幼儿园代表团参观了加拿大温莎的公立学校。
On October 17-18, 2017, the delegates from SWU Affiliated Elementary School and Kindergarten, who were invited by Dr. Shijing Xu from University of Windsor and Dr. Michael Connelly from University of Toronto, sponsored by Reciprocal Learning in Teacher Education and School Education Between Canada and China SSHRC Partnership Grant Project and the Greater Essex County District School Board (GECDSB), visited public schools in Windsor, Ontario.
10月17日,温莎大学许世静教授,张佐臣教授,West Gate的Mrs. Jackie Connelly校长,Mr. Mark Roth副校长,西南大学附属小学唐校长,美术老师潘老师,以及西南大学实验幼儿园宋园长进行交流。
Dr. Shijing Xu, Dr. Zuochen Zhang, Principal of West Gate Public School Mrs. Jackie Connelly, Vice-Principal Mr. Mark Roth, Principal of Southwest University Affiliated Kindergarten Ms. Song, Principal of Southwest University Affiliated Elementary School Mr. Tang, and Mr. Pan met in the early morning to have communication.
代表团参观标有1-100数字的操场。老师可以用地面上的数字教授学生数学知识,设计一些有趣的游戏让孩子们在活动中学知识。
There were 100 numbers (from 1-100) painted on the playground, and West Gate teachers could use the place to teach students numbers and design more interesting activities.
代表团成员观摩特殊教育课堂。这里有八名一到四年级的学生,每个学生都有完备的学习计划。每个教室由两名教师负责,其中一名是专业的特殊教育老师。唐校长和宋院长都对加拿大的特殊教育很感兴趣。
The delegates visited the Special Education class. There were eight students from Grade 1 to Grade 4 who had their own individual education plans. In each class, there were two teachers and one of the two teachers was a professional special education teacher. Principal Mr. Tang and Principal Ms. Song were very interested in the Special Education Program.
代表团参观三年级的阅读教室。唐校长对贴在墙上的成长型思维的海报深有感触,成长性思维的核心信念为能力是可以发展的,通过挑战有难度的任务,学生可以随着时间推移而变得更聪明、更优秀。唐校长认为中国的学校也应该向学生们教授这种思维模式。
Later, the Chinese delegates visited the Grade 3 Literacy Class. There was a chart demonstrating the Growth Mindset on the wall. All Chinese delegates were inspired by the motto: “When students believe they can get smarter, they understand that effort makes them stronger.” They agreed that Chinese students also needed to develop a growth mindset.
加拿大West Gate小学Connelly校长在该校体育馆向全体师生介绍了西南大学附属小学与实验幼儿园代表团。代表团向Connelly校长赠送了由西南大学附属小学学生手绘画的丝巾。
On October 17th, 2017, Principal Mrs. Connelly introduced the SWU Affiliated Elementary School and Kindergarten delegates to the whole school staff and students in the gym. The delegates brought Mrs. Connelly a silk muffler with SWU Affiliated Elementary School students’ painting on it as a present.
Mrs. Connelly 校长邀请唐校长，宋院长，潘老师和许教授观摩校车逃生演习。
Principal Mrs. Connelly invited the Chinese delegates teachers and students to observe a bus evacuation drill.
同学们有序地进行校车逃生演练。
The students completed the well-organized bus evacuation drill.
Mrs. Connelly校长邀请大家参观GAIN ( Giving Attention to Individual Needs) 特殊教育课堂,并向代表团成员介绍了Mr. Dimhan和他的助手，并展示了相关的教学教具。
Principal Mrs. Connelly invited everyone to visit the GAIN ( Giving Attention to Individual Needs) Special Education class, and she introduced Mr. Dimhan and her assistant teacher to the delegates, then she also showed the relevant teaching aids to the Chinese delegates.
唐校长和宋院长将带有中国瓷器元素的U盘作为礼物送给了两位老师，将重庆的城市明信片作为礼物送给了课堂上的学生。两位老师非常喜欢唐校长和宋院长的礼物,认为U盘对他们今后的教学非常有帮助，并向中国代表团表示感谢。
Principal Mr. Tang and Ms. Song brought USB flash drive with Chinese porcelain as gifts to the teachers and postcards of Chongqing in China to every student. The teachers were very happy, and they said that USB flash drive was very useful for their future teaching.

Dr. Shijing Xu, the Principal of West Gate Public School Mrs. Jackie Connelly, the Principal of Southwest University Affiliated Kindergarten Ms. Song, the Principal of Southwest University Affiliated Primary School Mr. Tang, and Mr. Pan debriefed during the recess time.
代表团成员参观West Gate学校的图书馆。这里是学生和老师们上科学课的地方,配备有很多平板电脑、电视屏幕、沙发和桌椅等。
The open library, which was used as a multifunctional learning center, was equipped with a big screen to show videos, many cozy sofas and chairs. Both teachers and students could learn from new technologies here.
许教授，唐校长，宋院长和潘老师参观了Mr.Bill McNeil老师的科学课。4年级的同学们在图书馆学习重力这个概念，他们通过搭建模型和模拟实验来理解重力的作用。
The Chinese delegates visited the Science class taught by Mr. Bill McNeil. The Grade 4 students worked in the library and studied the concept of gravity through building models and doing experiments.
2017年10月18日，西南大学附属小学与实验幼儿园代表团和加拿大West Gate小学全体教师合影留念。随后，西南大学附属小学唐校长通过简短的演讲传达了全体代表团成员们的感谢，同时真诚地邀请West Gate小学的教师们到中国参观，交流教学经验。
On October 18th, 2017, the Chinese delegates and the whole staff of West Gate Public School took group photos. Afterwards, Principal Mrs. Tang made a speech for the whole staff and expressed the Chinese delegates’ thankfulness for the opportunity to visit, and she invited the teachers in West Gate Public School to come to China to interact with teaching experience.
代表团成员们参观了West Gate的音乐教室，这里是学生们平时学习乐器演奏和彩排管乐队的地方。
Then, the Chinese delegates visited a Music class focused on teaching students how to play instruments and rehearse.
西南大学实验幼儿园宋校长以及附属小学唐校长,潘老师参观了PFLC（Parenting and Family Literacy Center）中心。PFLC是一个基于学校开设的免费亲子班，为0-6岁的小朋友提供早期成长的各种帮助。
Principal Mrs. Connelly showed everyone the Parenting and Family Literacy Center.
PFLC is a free and school-based drop-in program for parents, grandparents, and caregivers with their children from birth to age six.

Invited and guided by Dr. Shijing Xu, the Principal of West Gate Public School Mrs. Jackie Connelly, Vice Principal Mr. Mark Roth and Mr. Bill McNeil, the Principal of SWU Affiliated Kindergarten Ms. Song, the Principal of SWU Affiliated Elementary School Mr. Tang and Mr.Pan visited Point Pelee National Park, which meant a wonderful end to their visit in Canada.
放学后，West Gate小学副校长Mr. Mark Roth邀请西大附属学校的客人泛舟游览底特律河。
They joined the canoe ride on Detroit River organized by Mr. Roth, Vice Principal of West Gate for the SWU school visitors after school.
许教授携同项目组成员宴请姊妹校团队成员，欢送中国姊妹校来访客人。
The visit was concluded by a farewell dinner hosted by Dr. Xu.
西南大学附属学校代表团此次的访问促进了中加姊妹校的交流与合作，并增进了彼此的了解和友谊。
The visit enhanced the communication and collaboration between the Canadian and Chinese educators and strengthened mutual understanding and friendship.
