My name is Greg Kochanuk. I am the district principal for the Comox Valley International Student Program. I just want to say a few words of welcome today to the students and staff of Dongyang Huayuan Foreign Language School.
You got an amazing school , I visited it twice in last three years. And every single time I come, I meant to feel like I am welcomed and I am part of the family, and amazing facility !
I know that these are very uncertain times with what was going on with COVID-19, but here in BC we are doing things very similar to how things were done in China in terms of stemming the tide of COVID-19.
Our government is informing our citizens and informing our students very regularly on how to stay safe, social distancing, proper hygiene, and right now we have one of the safest places in Canada and some of the lowest incidents in Canada of COVID-19.
So What we are hoping for is in the next three or four months that we turn the tide of this terrible epidemic and things return to as much normal as possible.
希望在未来的三或四个月中,我们能够共同击败这场可恶的疫情,一切都恢复正常。
Our team and our program is working very hard to inform our students and inform homestays and inform families back in China how things are going.
歌摩士谷教育局国际学生项目也在尽全力帮助我们现有的国际学生,寄宿家庭和在中国的家长了解最新的情况。
VPEA(Vancouver Public Education Alliance)has done an amazing job of keeping students and families informed and keeping them safe as well. We have a full time VPEA person that lives in the Comox Valley with us and is in constant contact with students and families back home in China.
So what we want to do is we want to assure you that things are looking better and better here in BC. We are hoping things are completely safe by June and July this year and we want to welcome you to the Comox Valley. Its a great place to study. It’s a great place to live.
