问：8月10日、11日，辽宁省高级人民法院、丹东市中级人民法院分别对加拿大籍被告人谢伦伯格案、迈克尔案公开宣判。加方就此发表声明，指责中方对二人有关判决，称中方“任意拘押”迈克尔、对谢伦伯格“任意”作出裁决，将继续寻求迈克尔获释、对谢伦伯格宽大处理。欧盟、英国等亦发声支持加方。中方对此有何评论？
答：加拿大纠集个别国家，罔顾事实，混淆是非，对中国有关法院依法处理加在华公民个案指手画脚、说三道四，严重侵犯中国司法主权，严重违背法治精神。中方对此予以强烈谴责。
Canada is ganging up with a handful of countries to confuse right with wrong in disregard of facts. They point fingers at relevant courts’ lawful handling of cases involving Canadian citizens in China, which has gravely interfered in China's judicial sovereignty and severely violated the spirit of the rule of law. China strongly condemns this.
加拿大籍被告人谢伦伯格参与有组织的国际贩毒活动，伙同他人走私甲基苯丙胺222.035千克，走私毒品数量特别巨大。迈克尔因涉嫌危害中国国家安全犯罪被提起公诉，该案于今年3月依法开庭审理。中国有关法院在审理查明犯罪事实的基础上，依法对上述案件作出公开宣判。二人的各项合法权利均得到了充分保障。
Canadian citizen Robert Schellenberg was involved in organized international drug trafficking and smuggled 222.035 kilograms of methamphetamine with others, and the amount is especially huge. Michael Spavor was prosecuted for suspected crimes undermining China's national security, and the case was heard in March this year in accordance with law. Relevant Chinese courts have pronounced the judgments in public in accordance with law on the basis of trial and investigation of the crimes. All legal rights of these two individuals have been fully guaranteed.
中国是法治国家，无论违法犯罪人员是什么国籍，司法机关均严格依法处理、一视同仁，任何外籍身份都不是“护身符”。加拿大一方面标榜“法治国家”和“司法独立”，另一方面公然干预中国司法机关依法独立办案，公然践踏法律面前人人平等的法治精神，充分暴露出其搞“双重标准”的虚伪面目和将法律问题政治化的真实意图。
China is a country with rule of law. Judicial authorities treat all the criminals as equals and handle all cases in strict accordance with law, regardless of the criminals’ nationality. No foreign identity can be the amulet. Canada, on the one hand, claims to be a champion of the “rule of law” and “judicial independence”, but on the other hand, openly interferes in the handling of cases by China's judicial authorities independently in accordance with law, and brazenly tramples on the spirit of the rule of law that everyone is equal before the law. It fully exposes Canada’s hypocrisy of “double standard” and the true intention of politicizing legal issues.
我们奉劝加方，搞“麦克风外交”、拉帮结派对华施压的企图过去没能得逞，将来也绝不可能得逞。我们敦促有关国家拿出法治精神，尊重中国司法主权，停止发表不负责任的言论。
A word for the Canadian side: the attempt to conduct “megaphone diplomacy” and gang up on China failed in the past, and will never have its way in the future. We urge relevant countries to follow the spirit of the rule of law, respect China’s judicial sovereignty, and stop making any irresponsible remarks.
