Media Design is essentially aGraphic Design course focusing on the use of Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshopand Adobe InDesign. Media Design explores the Design Process as it relates tothe principles of layout and design, copywriting, typography, colour theory andmore. Students will develop the skills required to both respond to and createmedia in a digital format. Students will demonstrate these skills through aseries of practical projects which may include: logo design, icon design,promotional posters, album artwork, packaging design,
magazine layouts, and more. This course also incorporates a fairamount of flexibility, allowing the student to explore areas of Media Designthat interest them. This course is an excellent preparation for students whowant to explore careers in graphic design, advertising, marketing, photography,and journalism.
Software utilized in this course includes, but is not limitedto: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign. Suitable forstudents at all skill levels, from novice computer users to experts, and anyonein between. Students who have previously taken Media Design will continue toexplore the Design Process and work towards a portfolio, but with an increasedemphasis on student choice, requiring students to be motivated and consistentlyproductive to be successful in this course.

Digital Media Level 1 allows students to pursue an avenue oflearning related to both the technical and artistic side of digital mediadevelopment. Modules will include correction & manipulation of digitalphotography, 2D/3D modelling and design, 2D/3D animation, web design anddigital video editing. Software utilized in this course includes (but is notlimited to)
Adobe Animate (formerly Flash), Adobe Fireworks, AdobeDreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, andBlender. This course also incorporates a fair amount of flexibility,allowing the student to explore areas of Digital Media that interest them.Suitable for
grade 10, 11, and 12 students at all skill levels, from novicecomputer users to experts, and anyone in between.

Digital Media Development 12 allows students to further theirskills in the area of digital media development. It is recommended thatstudents have previously taken Digital Media Level 1. Like Digital Media 1,emphasis is placed on both the technical and artistic side of digital
media development. Students will be given the opportunity toexplore the career of freelance digital media developer, and are expected todevelop an ongoing portfolio of their work done in class. This providesstudents with a great deal of independence with regard to project choice. Assuch, students must be highly motivated and consistently productive to besuccessful in this course. Software utilized in this course includes (but isnot limited to) Adobe Animate (formerly Flash), Adobe Fireworks, AdobeDreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, and Blender.
